Terms of use and Seller policy
Version 2026-10. Last updated 28 October 2026.
1. What CarGrid is
CarGrid ("CarGrid", "we", "us") operates cargrid.ng and its app, an online marketplace that connects people who want to buy vehicles ("buyers") with dealers and sellers who want to sell them ("sellers"), so they can trade and do business with each other.
CarGrid does not own, stock, sell, inspect, store or deliver the vehicles listed, and is not a party to any agreement between a buyer and a seller. The contract of sale is between the buyer and the seller only. Prices, condition, documents, payment and handover are agreed between them.
2. Accounts
- Buyers can browse and contact sellers without an account.
- Sellers must create an account, give true and complete business details, and keep them up to date.
- By ticking "I agree" at sign-up, you accept these terms and the Privacy policy. We keep a record of the date and version you accepted.
- You are responsible for everything done through your account, including by staff you add. Keep your password private.
3. Seller verification policy
CarGrid's policy is that sellers on the platform are verified. To be verified, a seller provides their CAC registration (business name or company) and car stand details, which CarGrid reviews.
- Only verified sellers carry the Verified badge. The badge appears on a seller's storefront and listings only after CarGrid approves their documents. No seller may claim, copy or imply verification they don't have.
- CarGrid may require verification before a seller's cars are shown to buyers. Unverified sellers may be limited until verification is complete.
- Verification confirms the seller's business identity and stand at the time of review. It is not a guarantee of any particular vehicle, its condition, history or documents.
- CarGrid may remove a badge, re-check documents or suspend an account at any time if information turns out to be false or out of date.
4. Seller rules
- List only vehicles you own or are authorised to sell, and that are lawfully in Nigeria.
- Describe every vehicle truthfully: condition (brand new, tokunbo or Nigerian used), year, mileage, customs duty status, registration and known faults.
- Use real photos of the actual vehicle. Stolen, copied or stock photos are not allowed; CarGrid checks for photos used by other sellers.
- Show the real asking price. Mark cars sold or reserved promptly, and remove cars that are no longer available.
- Respond to buyers honestly and allow inspection before payment.
5. Buyers
- Inspect the vehicle in person and check its documents before paying. Follow our safety guidance.
- Never pay a deposit for a vehicle you haven't seen. CarGrid will never ask you to pay a seller through CarGrid.
- Report suspicious listings or sellers through "Report this listing" or CarGrid support.
6. Content and data
Sellers keep ownership of their listing content. By listing on CarGrid, sellers allow us to display, resize, watermark, translate and promote their listings and photos on cargrid.ng, the CarGrid app and CarGrid's marketing channels, including CarGrid's social media pages. Listing and price data may be used in aggregate for price guides and market insights. Personal data is handled under our Privacy policy.
7. Paid plans
Paid plans are billed for the period chosen and are not refundable once the period starts. If a plan expires, listings above the Free plan limit stop showing until it is renewed. Prices may change with notice.
8. Prohibited conduct
- Fraud, fake listings, impersonating another seller, or misusing the Verified badge.
- Asking buyers for deposits on vehicles they cannot inspect.
- Listing stolen vehicles or vehicles with false documents.
- Scraping, spamming, or interfering with the platform.
We may remove listings, remove badges, suspend or close accounts that break these terms, and report suspected crime to the authorities.
9. Liability
CarGrid provides the marketplace "as is". To the extent allowed by law, CarGrid is not liable for any loss arising from a transaction, dispute or dealing between buyers and sellers, or from the condition, history or documents of any vehicle.
10. Complaints and disputes
If you have a complaint about a seller, a buyer or CarGrid, open a support ticket or call/WhatsApp 0706 165 3949 (24/7). We will review it and may contact both sides, but disputes over a sale remain between the buyer and seller.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We may update them; continued use after an update means you accept the new version.
